Frequently Asked Questions
-
The Shrimp Bar is a fairly large room and can accommodate up to eight people for a podcast production (although half of those would be off set or behind the camera)
For non-podcast related activities (such as meeting room hire) you can squeeze up to 10-12 people into The Shrimp Bar, since you’re likely to be using our large kitchen table.
-
We have some basic packages on our studio hire page. If you need something different we can also tailor a package, please contact us and let us know exactly what you need.
-
We have a few options available for backdrops. Two walls are fully customisable and many of our clients use photography backdrops for their podcast backgrounds.
We can also hang soft furnishings, logos, or neon signs in front of the wall to give your podcast set design some additional depth.
Alternatively, we have an Acupanel® wall which you can use. This can provide a striking professional backdrop which we can customise with coloured uplighting or spot lighting. -
Yes, our guests usually get changed in The Nest room which is nice and private. Then move into The Shrimp Bar when they’re ready.
If you want to apply some makeup before your podcast, The Shrimp Bar will usually have a dressing table available (we call this “The Preening Station”) - although sometimes we need to move this out of the way, depending on your set design.
-
The Shrimp Bar is normally used to record video podcasts, since that’s what it was designed for (we have a separate recording space called ‘The Nest’ which is where we usually record audio podcasts)
However, in some circumstances we may suggest you use The Shrimp Bar for your audio podcast, for example, if you want more of a relaxed “sofa style” atmosphere.
-
Yes, we’ve installed Acupanel® wall panelling onto the largest wall in The Shrimp Bar, which does a great job of reducing room echo and improving the quality of voices. We will be making further improvements to the sound treatment in 2025.
